The Abingdon Bridge

2022 , 2023 & 2024 grant recipients

Project funded by the Powerhouse Grant - Grant medium and project completing March 2025

The Powerhouse Grant has allowed us to support some of the most vulnerable young people living in the priority areas. We have successfully engaged them through group work, counselling sessions, and psycho-educational workshops. Additionally, we have provided support to parents through workshops and group sessions. We are also planning a parent group to run throughout March and April 2025.

This funding has also enabled us to maintain our partnerships with other organisations within the priority areas. Through these partnerships, we are better equipped to support and identify those most in need.

Elfie, age 17

“Before the sessions, I wasn’t really sure about what the future held or what I wanted to do. But after the workshops, I’ve started thinking differently. I feel more confident about my choices and where I’m heading. I also used to get really anxious, but now I’ve learned ways to manage that stress. It’s made a big difference, and I feel like I can cope better now, whether it’s at school or just in my everyday life.”

Impact achieved so far:

Our grant project focus was on supporting both parents and young people.

1.    Parents

We aimed to help parents better understand the teenage brain and communicate more effectively with their children. Feedback from workshops has been overwhelmingly positive, with one parent saying, “This session helped me understand how to handle stress and engage with my son. It’s made a real difference.”

2.    Young People

· 85% showed increased resilience and a reduced likelihood of engaging in risky behaviours (April - December).

· 71% reported improved aspirations and greater confidence in their futures.

· 90% demonstrated enhanced emotional wellbeing, with reduced anxiety and stress.
