Sustainable Didcot

2024 grant recipient

Project funded by the Powerhouse Grant - Grant medium and project now completed

The Powerhouse grant enabled us to increase our opening hours in The Green Hub by employing a worker to support events and volunteer activities. The Green Hub is Didcot’s Climate Emergency Centre and seeks to engage residents in living sustainable, cost and energy efficient lifestyles.

The Powerhouse grant has enabled a wider reach into the community through inclusiveness, engaging people from more diverse backgrounds. Also through the development of new initiatives and increased community involvement including recent arrivals from Hong Kong and the Ukraine.

Although we are an environmental organisation we are acutely aware that people come to us for a variety of reasons – often loneliness and isolation have attracted people to us. They connect with one of our softer activities such as learning a craft or working on the allotment and find themselves drawn in. Groups range from Skills and Chill to the Repair Café.
