Quizzers raise funds for Powerhouse

A fabulous £847 has been raised through local Didcot pubs who took part in the inaugural Didcot Powerhouse Fund Pub Quiz, by fielding quiz teams for the heats in May and onwards to the Grand Final.

On 5th June, Powerhouse Pub Quiz teams gathered at The Barn in Didcot to battle it out at the Quiz Final. It was a tough quiz so the chips were down as to who would get the most questions correct on the night!

The Bizzy Bees Cafe and Bistro team received the highest score and members of their team included Didcot Baby Monday volunteers who have received Powerhouse grants over the last two years. Other teams that participated in the fun event were The Ladygrove Pub A & B teams, The Mulberry, The Wheatsheaf, and The Barn as well as the Powerhouse team who also joined in on the night. Guests at the event were treated to some super music by The Dukes (Didcot Ukele Band) who also played live music on the music quiz round.

Di Chesterman, organiser of the event and an ambassador for The Didcot Powerhouse Fund said “I’d like to thank all the people and pubs that took part, the sponsors of raffle prizes and everyone who helped with the organisation, particularly Mark at the Barn for loaning us the venue. The night was buzzing and we hope to make the quiz an annual event so keep your eyes posted on social media for future information.“

Local Conservative MP David Johnston and Labour candidate Mocky Khan attended the event to cheer on the teams.
